SUMMARY:Historic Third Ward Neighborhood Celebrates 'Beerpartisanship'
DESCRIPTION:Unity! Courage! Beerpartisanship? Yes\, we can! (With a beer can\, that is.) \nWho wouldn’t reach across the aisle for a frothy brew? During the 2024 Republican National Convention\, Milwaukee’s popular Historic Third Ward neighborhood is taking a stand for cracking a cold beer\, taking a load off and soaking up the summer sun — all in the name of #Beerpartisanship. \nKicking off in mid-June\, the neighborhood’s walls and windows will be covered in #Beerpartisanship posters\, designed by Third Ward-based Hanson Dodge as an ode to political propaganda posters from year’s past. Then\, on Wednesday\, July 17\,\nall are invited to gather at the Third Ward Beer Garden for an afternoon of cold cans\, live music and affable conversation\nfrom 4 to 7 p.m. — all in the spirit of #Beerpartisanship. \n“The Historic Third Ward welcomes people of all walks of life — and strives to always provide a welcoming\, genuinely\nMilwaukee experience\,” says Jim Plaisted\, Executive Director of the Historic Third Ward Association. \nAfter approaching the Historic Third Ward Association with a unique\, bipartisan idea\, Hanson Dodge and the neighborhood\nassociation brewed up #Beerpartisanship. On July 17\, residents and visitors alike are invited to a celebration of the inclusive\nideal — featuring a free\, limited-edition tapping of “Reach Across the Ale” beer (an Explorium Brewpub beer renamed for\nthe event). Or guests can grab a cold one from Wizard Works Brewing and other local breweries featured at the Third Ward\nBeer Garden. \nHanson Dodge will also be filming individuals as they play a #Beerpartisanship card game\, where individuals of people from\ndifferent parties will be rewarded with a free beer when they agree on one of the questions listed on the cards.\n“When we found out Milwaukee was awarded the RNC\, we wondered how we could bring people together\,” says Mitch\nMarkussen\, Creative Director at Hanson Dodge. “We thought\, instead of highlighting our differences\, let’s have some fun\nwith some easier conversations. Let’s bring people together\, and when they agree on a topic\, we’ll give them a beer. It’s\nhard to argue or disagree when you have a smile on your face\, and a beer in your hand.” \nThe card games and conversations will be shared on Instagram profiles @historicthirdward and @hanson_dodge to show\n#beerpartisanship is one ideal everyone can champion. Limited-edition #Beerpartisanship tees will also be for sale at the\nbeer garden. \n“When Hanson Dodge approached us with this idea\, we knew it was a perfect fit\,” said Plaisted. “I mean\, anytime we can\ncome together on a July afternoon and enjoy a beer\, good music and fun conversation\, it doesn’t get much better. Here’s to\n#Beerpartisanship\, friends!” \nWatch for more details in the coming weeks at historicthirdward.org and @historicthirdward on Instagram and Facebook. \n
