DESCRIPTION:East Town Association’s Bastille Days returns July 11 –14. One of the world’s largest French festivals\, the four-day celebration will light up Milwaukee with even more great food\, entertainment\, and vendors\, as well as the popular Storm the Bastille 5K Run/Walk. Join the festivities and get in the spirit of celebration at Bastille Days\, just weeks before the Paris 2024 Olympics commence. \nStorm the Bastille 5K Run/Walk \nBastille Days’ festivities kick off with its biggest fundraiser\, Storm the Bastille 5K\, with help from Milwaukee’s favorite DJ\, DJ Shawna\, on July 11. Thanks to presenting sponsor Madison Medical with additional support from Gruber Law Offices and Saz’s Hospitality Group\, participants will run or walk the route through Downtown Milwaukee and the Historic Third Ward to commemorate the storming of the Bastille\, the 18th-century French prison that sparked the French Revolution. Register here and you can also choose to donate towards the ongoing restoration of the 42-foot Eiffel Tower replica. \nFrench Food\, Music and Performances \nFestivalgoers can again enjoy roaming street performers along the Madison Medical Bastille Day’s Marketplace\, visit the fortune tellers and henna artists\, explore the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist\, or pay a visit to the French Bulldog Kissing Booth. The ever-popular Kids Day\, sponsored by Educators Credit Union\, on July 13 will feature a variety of activities including a Beignet Breakfast\, the Kohl’s Art Studio\, French lessons with the Milwaukee French Immersion School\, performances from the Milwaukee Ballet and a variety of other kid centered entertainment. Door Peninsula Winery will once again provide wine tastings throughout the event. Returning fan food favorites include Beignets Français\, Lake Park Bistro\, Lagniappe Brasserie\, Crème & Crepe Café\, New Orleans Cajun flavors by Crawdaddy’s on Greenfield and many more. \nThe Educators Credit Union Main Stage and Gruber Law Offices “One Call…That’s All” stage\, along with three other stages\, will offer a diverse entertainment line-up of over 60 musical acts with highlights including headliners such as the Extra Crispy Brass Band\, Sneezy\, Panadanza\, Breaking Cadence and Taylor & The Anti Heroes. This year\, the festival promises even more French entertainment including long-time performers like chanteuse extraordinaire Robin Pluer and Madame Gigi’s Outrageous French Can-Can Dancers\, as well as new additions such as Jerry Grillo French Cabaret\, Ana Everling Trio\, Marjasana\, and French Folk with Daddy Squeeze & friends. This volunteer-led experience unites our community to celebrate cancer survivors\, remember loved ones lost to cancer\, and raise funds to improve the lives of people with cancer and their families through advocacy\, research\, and patient support\, to ensure everyone has an opportunity to prevent\, detect\, treat\, and survive cancer. \nPlease join us for a fun night filled with many activities\, such as a game tent\, kid’s grab bags\, lawn games\, a silent auction\, a survivor lounge\, concessions\, a luminaria ceremony\, a poker walk\, and of course\, a track to walk as we celebrate\, remember\, and fight back against cancer! \n

Laughing Liberally Milwaukee\, a monthly progressive political comedy show\, brings you a special anti-RNC show packed with our funniest\, leftist and most pissed-off performers. Before downtown turns into a police state\, come vent some anti-RNC steam and laugh at the spectacle with like minded progressives. \n\n	Laughing Liberally Milwaukee is hosted by comedian\, cartoonist and satirist Matthew Filipowicz. Matthew’s work has been featured by CNN\, NPR\, PBS\, HBO\, BBC\, the New York Times\, the Wall Street Journal\, the Atlantic\, the Nation\, the London Times\, Ain’t It Cool News\, and the Huffington Post. Matthew also hosts the creatively titled Laughing Liberally Milwaukee Podcast. \nComedians on the July 13th bill include Kristin Lytie\, Josh Fred\, Syed\, Chloe Mikala and sketch comedy troupe The Accountants Of Homeland Security. \nIn addition to some of the finest progressive comedians Milwaukee has to offer\, each Laughing Liberally Milwaukee features a special interview with a local activist\, journalist\, or political figure.
