SUMMARY:First ever MKE Production of Award-Winning Play 'Hypotheticals'
DESCRIPTION:2023 winner of the Epiphanies New Works Festival and official selection of WORLD PREMIERE WISCONSIN and Cincinnati LAB Theatre. Hypotheticals is a romantic comedy about a beautiful but misanthropic woman who kisses a stranger in an elevator on her way to psychotherapy. When the stranger turns out to be her new therapist\, they’re forced into a professional relationship where the intimate environment is as fertile for romantic tension as it is for personal growth—until the revelation of a mutual secret threatens to bind them together or tear them apart. \nHypotheticals shatters biases around neurodiversity and Autism and has been well received at staged readings in Milwaukee\, Waco\, and Cincinnati\, going on to WIN the 2023 Epiphanies New Works Festival as the #1 play out of hundreds of submissions. The world premiere production is being produced by Kith & Kin Theatre Collective in West Allis and directed by Maura Atwood. Hypotheticals is written by Milwaukee playwright and novelist Rebecca Anne Nguyen. \n

SUMMARY:Nina Simone: Four Women
DESCRIPTION:The creator of some of our nation’s most powerful Civil Rights anthems\, Nina Simone shook the world with her music. After the 1963 bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham\, Simone’s tribute song “Four Women” transformed her from gifted pianist to trailblazing activist\, charting a new course as an agent of change and healing. This play with music shines a light on how she found her true calling and gave voice to a movement through impactful and inspirational songs like “Mississippi Goddam\,” “Go Limp” and “Sinnerman.” \nBy Christina Ham\nDirected by Malkia Stampley \n
