SUMMARY:Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears\, Shane Guerrette @ Vivarium
DESCRIPTION:Join Vivarium for an evening of live music featuring Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears and Shane Guerette! \nWhile working at a pawn shop in Austin\, Joe Lewis first picked up the guitar. Shortly thereafter\, Joe Lewis immersed himself in the local Red River blues/garage scene\, recording and performing with Austin luminaries such as the Weary Boys and Walter Daniels. Upon the release of the 2005 Brian Salvi produced Black Joe Lewis and The Cold Breeze EP with standout track “Bitch I Love You” featuring Matt Hubbard on Rhodes electric piano and the 2007 album Black Joe Lewis\, both released on Italian label Shake Yo Ass Records\, the band gained critical national acclaim and toured as openers for Spoon and Okkervil River in 2007. \nInspired by generations preceding him\, Shane Guerrette drew influence from classic soul and roots rock music to craft his own fresh\, retro-flavored sound. With just an iPhone and a laptop\, he made his dream a reality from the comfort of his own bedroom in upstate New York. Instead of a premature fast-track to fame after receiving the Golden Ticket on the 2021 season of American Idol\, the old-school rocker chose to tell his story in a more authentic way. \n

SUMMARY:You on the Moors Now
DESCRIPTION:The UWM Theatre Department’s exploration of the moors culminates with an imagined reunion of 19th-century heroines from Pride and Prejudice\, Wuthering Heights\, Jane Eyre\, and Little Women. Only this time around\, these heroines resolutely decline the advances of their famous suitors and grapple with the challenge of reconciling historical romantic ideals with their contemporary perspectives on courtship. This clever play offers an empowering perspective on a group of women who not only reject their passionate suitors but also defy the conventions and societal norms expected of them. \n

SUMMARY:Gaines & Wagoner + Glenn Asch & John Parrott
DESCRIPTION:Join Anodyne Coffee Roasting Co. for an evening of live music featuring Glenn Asch & John Parrott and Gaines & Wagoner! \nGLENN ASCH & JOHN PARROTT have been steady musical compatriots over the last 10 years. Anyone who has heard the Chris Hanson band knows about Glenn’s taste and virtuosity on the violin (and he literally wrote a book about jazz violin\, titled “Deluxe Anthology of Jazz Violin Styles”) while John’s songwriting\, vocals and his lively bounce on the acoustic archtop guitar in the rhythm section are hallmarks of that much-praised band. \nGAINES & WAGONER are the award-winning multi-instrumental husband/wife duo of Mary Gaines and Chris Wagoner based in Madison. Co-founders of several popular Wisconsin-based bands over the past nearly 40 years: Harmonious Wail (vintage string jazz)\, Common Faces (folk-soul)\, The Moon Gypsies (Americana/Roots-Rock)\, The Bob Westfall Band (new acoustic)\, Graminy (class-grass) and The Stellanovas (vintage jazz and blues). \n

SUMMARY:Guys On Ice
DESCRIPTION:One of the Stackner Cabaret’s most popular musical comedies makes its encore as we celebrate our 70th Anniversary Season and the 25th Anniversary of when this show premiered at Milwaukee Rep! Life on the lake is easy\, especially when the fish are biting\, the jokes are funny\, there’s a ‘couple two three’ beers in the bucket and the Green Bay Packers are on the field. From the warmth of their shanty ‘up north\,’ old pals Marvin and Lloyd spin wit\, wisdom and hilarious songs about life\, love and the one that got away. Don’t miss this Wisconsin musical tradition\, featuring songs like “Ode to a Snowmobile Suit” and “The Wishing Hole.” \nBooks & Lyrics by Fred Alley\nMusic by James Kaplan\nDirected & Choreographed by Jeffrey Herbst \n
