SUMMARY:Family Hop Week
DESCRIPTION:The Hop\, presented by Potawatomi Hotel & Casino\, is looking ahead to spring break and the long-awaited return of our Family Hop program\, slated for March 27 through April 8\, 2023. \nBack for the first time since 2019\, Family Hop is a fun and free way for families to explore Milwaukee via the streetcar. And thanks to the support of our partners at Children’s Wisconsin\, Rooted MKE and Classy Girl Cupcakes\, we’ve got some wonderful activities planned. \nSTORIES ON THE HOP\nThe signature event of this year’s Family Hop will be “Stories on The Hop\,” a children’s storytime right on board the streetcar. The Hop has partnered with Rooted MKE\, Milwaukee’s only BIPOC children’s bookstore\, makerspace and academic support center\, to host children on a stationary streetcar outside of The Hop’s maintenance facility. The kids will hear a reading of “Last Stop on Market Street” by Matt de la Peña\, participate in a discussion about the book’s themes\, and engage in streetcar-themed craft projects before heading home with their very own copy of the book\, thanks to the support of Children’s Wisconsin. This unique event will take place from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday\, April 1\, and while it’s free to attend\, advance registration is required. To register\, visit https://rootedmke.as.me/storiesonthehop. \nHOP BINGO\nAlso as part of this year’s Family Hop\, the streetcar is bringing back Hop Bingo as an on-board game to play with children. The Milwaukee-themed Bingo card will contain common sights to spot along the streetcar route and a designated area for a special sticker that the rider can receive from their streetcar operator. Once a child spots enough sights for bingo and receives their sticker\, they can bring their completed card to Classy Girl Cupcakes on N. Jefferson St. near the Cathedral Square streetcar platform to receive a free cupcake (valid Monday through Saturday during Classy Girl’s normal business hours for children ages 12 and under). Bingo cards can be downloaded from www.thehopmke.com/family-hop or picked up at select locations throughout the city including all Milwaukee Public Library branches. \nHOPPING WITH THE FAMILY\nAdditionally\, The Hop has produced some helpful tips for hopping with the kids to make a streetcar adventure with the little ones fun and easy for the whole family. DESCRIPTION:Easter’s coming\, which means the return of the free Easter Egg Hunt at St. Ann Center’s Bucyrus Campus\, 2450 W. North Ave.\, on Saturday\, April 1. \nThe hunt gets started at 11 a.m. sharp and continues until all eggs are gone – first come\, first serve. Children 3 and younger will hunt in the Intergenerational Playgarden\, the smaller\, fenced-in area on the main building’s east side. Children ages 4-11 will hunt in the larger area near the Indaba Band Shell to the rear of the main building. \nNo matter what their age\, all children must be supervised in their hunt area by an adult. Families with children hunting in both locations need to bring an adult to supervise at each. \nParents may park in the center’s lots; street parking is also available. \nAfter the hunt\, parents can snap photos of their children with the Easter Bunny on the bandshell stage. They can also tour the center’s childcare wings and other areas – including the nature-based curriculum classroom\, the large central atrium\, the warm-water swimming pool\, the hydroponic growing units\, library and art room. \nIn case of inclement weather\, the hunt will be moved indoors to the atrium; enter through the front door. \nFor more information\, contact Lori Grzybowski at (414) 977-5064. \n

DESCRIPTION:Anodyne Coffee Roasting Co. presents an evening of live music featuring Dallas Ugly and The Steph Lippert project! \nThe music of Dallas Ugly shimmers with an iridescent nostalgia. Built on a foundation of mellow interchanges of electric guitar and pedal steel\, the rhythm and flow evoke an old-school country version of lofi hip hop radio. But combined with soaring fiddle and heartfelt vocals\, it becomes something wholly new – a sound as unique as it is dreamy. \nAfter first meeting in 2012 at DePaul University\, Libby Weitnauer\, Eli Broxham\, and Owen Burton became fast friends and began writing music together with every free moment. When graduation rolled around\, the friends diverged onto three distinct paths: Weitnauer off to study classical violin performance for her graduate studies in New York City\, Broxham to gig around the local bluegrass scene in Chicago\, and Burton to serve in the Peace Corps in Senegal. Independent of each other’s direct influence\, they continued to grow as individuals and musicians\, developing their own unique voices and styles. \nThe Steph Lippert Project is a Milwaukee Collective of musicians\, film makers\, and good friends. \nTickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door. Advance ticket sales are available until 3 p.m. the day of the show. Doors open at 7 p.m.\, and the show starts at 8 p.m. \n
