SUMMARY:The Nativity Variations
DESCRIPTION:In a small midwestern town\, amateur theater director Jules and her experimental community theater troupe face their biggest and most ambitious challenge yet – staging the Christmas pageant at St. Ignatius Episcopal Church. As their adventurous vision for the greatest story ever told hilariously evolves to include Shakespearian comedy and even foul-mouthed puppets\, Jules – with a gentle nudge by Father Juan – is left to consider the purpose of her art and the true meaning of the holiday season. Modern cynicism meets emotional tenderness in this hilarious and heartfelt World Premiere by award-winning playwright Catherine Trieschmann (“One House Over”). The Milwaukee Repertory Theater is putting on “The Nativity Variations” at the Quadracci Powerhouse from November 16 through December 11\, 2022.  \nBy Catherine Trieschmann \nDirected by Shelley Butler \nWorld Premiere Event\nA John (Jack) D. SUMMARY:Peter Mulvey\, Anne Heaton\, Katie Dahl @ Anodyne Coffee Roasting Co.
DESCRIPTION:Katie Dahl: \nKatie Dahl is a songwriter and playwright whose work is as expansive as Lake Michigan and as deeply rooted as its rocky coastal bluffs. A small-town celebrity on the Wisconsin peninsula where her family has lived for 175 years\, she is now a radio-charting folk artist who tours around the world. Clear-eyed and tough-minded\, fresh and funny\, Katie “delivers razor-sharp lyrics with a hearty\, soulful voice” (American Songwriter). \nAnne Heaton: \nSinger-songwriter and pianist Anne Heaton has captured audience imaginations for over fifteen years with her songs that are\, by turns\, “tender\, barbed and spiritual” (Washington Post). She’s been featured by the New York Times Popcast\, played numerous times on NPR and shared the stage with artists such as Jewel\, Sarah McLachlan and jazz drummer Max Roach. She teaches at Berklee College of Music Summer Programs and is the founder of Soul Songs School\, an online songwriting program. \nPeter Mulvey: \nPeter Mulvey has been a songwriter\, road-dog\, raconteur\, and almost-poet since before he can remember. Raised working-class Catholic on the Northwest side of Milwaukee\, he took a semester in Ireland and immediately began cutting classes to busk on Grafton Street in Dublin and hitchhike through the country\, finding whatever gigs he could. Back stateside\, he spent a couple of years gigging in the Midwest before lighting out for Boston\, where he returned to busking (this time in the subway) and coffeehouses. Small shows led to larger shows\, which eventually led to regional and then national and international touring. The wheels have not stopped since. \n$20 adv/ $25 at the door (advance sales until 3pm day of show\, then available at the door). Doors at 7pm\, showtime 8pm \n
