SUMMARY:Kids Impact Community Social Justice Story Time
DESCRIPTION:Join KIC and Rona Wolfe\, kindergarten teacher and anti-bias educator\, for a Social Justice Story Time. Through stories Rona will lead kid-friendly discussions about racial justice and address how kids can take big actions in small ways. \nAttend one or both of these Social Justice Story Times as different books will be read at each session. \nThrough stories our kids will be empowered with an understanding and celebration of differences while recognizing the similarities and connections we all share. \nDr. Martin Luther King\, Jr. states\, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is\, ‘What are you doing for others?’” In this spirit we challenge your family to make a commitment to service over the next year. Paint how you will make change in our community on a 6×6” canvas square. Like a quilt\, these squares will be combined into a traveling art exhibit displayed at locations throughout the area. Pick up an art kit for each of your children anytime January 4-22. Locations and pick-up instructions will be provided following registration. \nRona Kader Wolfe has been a kindergarten teacher for 28 years. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from UW-Milwaukee\, where she is currently working towards a master’s degree in Community Engagement and Education. Rona has served both Milwaukee’s Indigenous community and its Jewish community as a kindergarten teacher at the Indian Community School and most recently at Milwaukee Jewish Day School. \n

SUMMARY:Pabst Mansion Presents: Barons\, Brewers\, and Milwaukee Society
DESCRIPTION:This talk is the first in our new virtual program series\, Pabst Mansion Presents! \nThe rapid expansion of Milwaukee’s breweries in the decades after the Civil War brought prosperity to the owners of the great shipping breweries and steady work to their employees. Both groups contributed to the development of Milwaukee’s economy and society. However\, Milwaukee’s breweries were not immune from the labor disputes that afflicted other businesses in the Cream City and throughout the nation. \nJoin Doug Hoverson\, author of The Drink that Made Wisconsin Famous: Beer and Brewing in the Badger State\, as he discusses the rise of Milwaukee beer to worldwide fame and some of the growing pains that accompanied that expansion in the period from 1870-1910. \nJoin us on the Mansion’s Facebook Live to watch in real time!  Donations are encouraged: https://www.pabstmansion.com/support/donate-(1) \n
