DESCRIPTION:Come out and support your local artists\, makers and musicians at a Sunday afternoon pop-up in the front yards of homes in the 1700-1800 block of N. 52nd St. in Washington Heights Neighborhood of Milwaukee on Sunday\, September 13 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. The front yard pop-ups will be located on 52nd St. between Washington Blvd and Vine St. \nEach artist/maker/musician derives part or all of their income from sales of their art at events\, art fairs and street fairs\, which have all been cancelled for the foreseeable future. Your invited to stop by and show your support for your neighbors. Owned and operated by Washington Heights residents Drew Griswold & his wife Jenni.\n• Whitton’s Mittens/Magolloubee Aprons: you probably know the mother/daughter mitten making duo from the winter months but year around they make fun and stylish hand-sewn fabric aprons for all ages. \n——————–\nMake your purchases directly with each maker using cash\, credit card or other contact free payment choices (varies by each artist).\n——————– \nSAFE SHOPPING GUIDELINES:\n• All artists/makers/musicians will be wearing a face mask and practicing safe distancing when they interact with you. Please do the same and wear a mask. The city of Milwaukee mandates face masks be worn at all public events and are required at our pop-up.\n• Attendees must maintain social distancing. Each maker reserves the right to limit the number of people in their selling area at any given time.\n• You may be offered hand sanitizer at each table/tent before you begin browsing.\n• Each pop-up takes place on the private property of a resident. Please be respectful of their property\, leaving no trash behind and cleaning up after your pet (if you bring one along).\n• Children should be supervised by adult/parent/caregiver while shopping and look with their eyes\, not their hands 🙂\n• Dogs and pets must be leashed and under your control at all times when visiting the pop-up.\n• Anyone not conforming to these policies will be asked to leave the private property. SUMMARY:Intro to Native Gardening Class
DESCRIPTION:Discover how the Valley’s landscaping does its part to protect the Menomonee River and how to use some of the same landscaping techniques at home. Jay Feiker of the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District will lead a tour of Menomonee Valley Community Park. Beginning near the intersection of W. Milwaukee Road and Canal Street\, participants will hear about the native gardening and storm water management efforts in place in the park and how that helps keep the Menomonee River healthy. \nAfter the tour\, you can learn about how to implement similar practices in your own backyard! Do your part to help keep our rivers clean and healthy by planting native flora—you’ll even get a native plant to bring home after the event! \nWhen: Sunday\, September 13\, 2 p.m. \nWhere: Menomonee Valley Community Park | 3700 W. Milwaukee Rd & Virtual \nCost: $10/person \nIn-person attendance will be limited to the first 15-20 people to register. Those who register after that point can join the event virtually over video! \nMasks are required by all participants at this event and social distancing will be enforced.
