SUMMARY:Gallery Reception with Artists May Klisch and James Steeno
DESCRIPTION:Join us in our Mezzanine Gallery to celebrate two Milwaukee artists\, May Klisch and James Steeno\, as they share their nature and Center-inspired artwork. It is here where their passions for color\, the land\, and raptors come together. \nMay’s watercolors\, which feature birds\, other animals\, and florals\, have been described as earthy\, ethereal\, and whimsical. She recently began painting in oils. May’s art has been displayed at the Red Line Studio for MKE Swan Day. \nJames enjoys the immediacy of working in watercolor to create paintings that reflect Wisconsin’s nature\, including trees\, birds\, and dragonflies. He is an independent artist/illustrator and creative entrepreneur who participates in a variety of art shows\, fairs and painting competitions around the state. \nBoth artists have painted wildlife scenes of the Center and some of our Raptors and have items available in our Nature Store. Their gallery artwork will also be available for purchase with the artists donating a portion of the proceeds to the Center. \nThis event is free and open to all. Registration is not necessary. \nThe show runs May 23 – July 26. The gallery is open during the Center’s regular business hours\, and located on the second-floor mezzanine\, which is wheelchair accessible via the elevator.

SUMMARY:Storyslam: "Untold Stories of Resistance" With Ex Fabula
DESCRIPTION:Everyone loves a story! Enjoy the evening while being entertained\, engaged and emboldened by Milwaukeeans sharing their stories. \nInspired by the fortitude of Jewish Partisan Faye Schulman\, community members will share their personal story of “Untold Stories of Resistance.” Stories large and small will inform and inspire. For this noncompetitive curated StorySlam\, storytellers are selected from our “Untold Stories of Resistance Workshop\,” where each teller works with an Ex Fabula storytelling coach to prepare their true story on the theme of resistance. Storytellers will be announced in May. \nAudience members can also participate in the storytelling by submitting UltraShorts\, which are brief\, true personal stories written on slips of paper and read onstage by the Ex Fabula emcee. \nTickets: Members $10\, Nonmembers $12
