DESCRIPTION:Green Bay Packers Defensive Tackle\, Kenny Clark\, will be in Milwaukee Saturday\, May 18\, 2019 as the Walk Leader for Next Door’s largest community event of the year – the Walk for Children. Clark will lead the crowd on a one-mile\, parade-style Walk followed by a block party featuring stage entertainment with Clark\, a DJ\, prizes\, free books for kids\, family-friendly games/activities and lunch. Some of the participating organizations include: Betty Brinn Children’s Museum\, Harley-Davidson Motor\, Company\, Milwaukee Public Museum and Medical College of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy. The proceeds from the Walk for Children benefit Next Door’s critical early childhood education programming for Milwaukee children living in poverty. \n

DESCRIPTION:NAMI Greater Milwaukee will hold its NAMIWalk on Saturday morning\, May 18th at Veterans Park. Molly Fay\, Host of WTMJ4 Morning Blend\, is emcee. Registration and family-friendly entertainment starts at 9:30 a.m. and the 5K walk starts at 11 a.m. \nRegister at: www.namiwalks.org/greatermilwaukee or call 414-344-0447. DESCRIPTION:Milwaukee Pug Fest is a family event celebrating pugs\, a six-hour love letter to the chunky\, snorty and sweet-natured breed. Attracting more than 3\,800 humans and over 2\,100 pugs\, pug mixes and other “smushie-faced breeds” with their owners in tow\, the Fest’s attractions include pug races\, costume contests\, custard eating contest\, talent contest\, exhibits\, demonstrations\, vendors\, silent auctions\, and services such as an animal communicator\, pet portraits and nail trimming. Behind the Pug Fest’s merriment\, however\, lies a much deeper purpose: to raise funds for cash-strapped pug rescue organizations. The event will host seven (7) Pug Rescues from across the United States. Other smushie-faced breed rescues include the French Bulldog Rescue\, Wisconsin Boston Terrier Rescue and New Beginnings Shih Tzu Rescue. SUMMARY:Move-Out Festival
DESCRIPTION:The Move-Out Festival is hosted by the UWM Neighborhood Housing Office in collaboration with the Office of Sustainability at the end of the spring semester. This program provides an opportunity for student tenants in the move-out process to properly dispose of unwanted furniture\, reusable clothing\, and other household items that can be re-purposed. Everyone is welcome to browse the selection of items available and everything is free of charge! Not only can you furnish your home\, but you’ll also help keep the curbs of the neighborhood surrounding UWM clean. Donations are accepted from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. before the event begins and will continue to be accepted through the end of the event at 4 p.m. \nVisit us in the Science Buildings parking lot on campus between the Physics building and the Lubar Entrepreneurship and Visit Center at 1900 E Kenwood Blvd. \n
