In this class you will graft and take home two semi-dwarf trees of your choice (apple\, pear or plum). Root stocks and scion wood provided. Additional materials will be available for a fee. Bring a sharp knife if you have one (there will be some available). Registration required by March 21st. \n

DESCRIPTION:Boston-based Irish flute player/singer Shannon Heaton presents traditional music masterfully. Her dance tunes and ballad singing are steeped in the tradition. She is a warm\, entertaining performer and received a 2016 Artist Fellowship from the Massachusetts Cultural Council. She was also named Live Ireland’s Female Artist of the Year in both 2010 and 2011 and IAN’s Female Musician of the Year in 2009. \nIn performance\, Shannon expertly blends new compositions with rare\, traditional gems. She is a warm\, entertaining performer and excels at making traditional music relevant and accessible to a wide variety of audiences. Workshop: “Irish Singing without the Accent” is at 1:30 p.m. Shannon empowers participants to sing in their own authentic voices\, and offers techniques and songs that tap into the essence of traditional style. \n

Jessica Lang Dance has been named among the best dance events of 2015 by the Chicago Sun-Times and the Chicago Tribune. Hailed “a master of visual composition” by Dance Magazine\, the Bessie Award-winning Lang seamlessly incorporates striking design elements and transforms classical ballet language into artfully crafted\, emotionally engaging contemporary work. \nLang has created more than 92 works for commissions from companies worldwide\, including Birmingham Royal Ballet\, The National Ballet of Japan\, Joffrey Ballet\, and Kansas City Ballet\, among many others. American Ballet Theatre has presented her work at the Metropolitan Opera House. She has received commissions from the Dallas Museum of Art and the Guggenheim Museum for its Works & Process series. Lang received outstanding acclaim for her directorial debut and choreography for Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater at the 2013 Glimmerglass Festival. \n
