SUMMARY:California Dreamin': Mark Adams and Frank Lobdell at Racine Art Museum
DESCRIPTION:Mark Adams (1925-2006) and Frank Lobdell (1921-2013) explored pattern and color. Drawing on his experience building images with large planes of color\, Adams created realistic\, color-infused compositions of everyday subjects. Lobdell sought to explore humanity in broader terms––utilizing a “vocabulary of archetypal themes and abstract symbols.” Although primarily a painter\, Lobdell also produced lithographs\, etchings\, and monoprints. Both artists made their way to California where they spent the better part of their artistic careers. \nTuesday – Saturday 10:00 am – 5:00 pm\nSunday 12:00 – 5:00 pm\nClosed Monday\, Federal Holidays and Easter\nThe Museum Store closes at 4:45 pm each day. \n

SUMMARY:Tangled Webs
DESCRIPTION:Milwaukee\, WI: Lynx Project\, a brand new ensemble committed to revitalizing the classical genre of art song through innovative and inclusive performances\, will present their inaugural concert at North Shore Congregational Church on Tuesday\, March 8th at 7:30PM. Suggested contribution for admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets can be reserved online at lynxproject.org. \nLynx Project was founded by former Whitefish Bay resident Caitleen Kahn and colleague Megan Moore. The group consists of four emerging artists fresh out of graduate school at Eastman School of Music. Lynx Project’s program\, Tangled Webs\, powerfully intersects the worlds of poetry\, music and storytelling. The pianist and three vocalists will portray the love triangle between literary giants Percy and Mary Shelley\, and Percy’s first wife\, Harriet. A dynamic and eclectic program of art song takes the audience on the journey of this true story. \nLynx Project is committed to expanding the currently small modern audience of this highly accessible art form. The songs\, written for solo voice and piano\, are three minutes long on average. And the themes speak to the universality of the human experience\, despite coming from vastly different cultures and time periods. \nLynx Project invites you to TANGLED WEBS: a true story of passion\, love\, deceit\, despair and bliss through songs of Schubert\, Rorem\, Laitman\, Mozart\, Schoenberg and many more. \n
