DESCRIPTION:Bel Canto celebrates the wonder\, beauty\, and serenity of the world around us through the voices of leading American choral composers of the past and present. Aaron Copland’s most substantial choral work\, In the Beginning\, unfolds the biblical story of creation with an intricate dialogue between soloist and choir. Jake Runestad’s “Come to the Woods” explores the transporting peace found in the natural world using a collage of fragments from John Muir’s writings. Morten Lauridsen’s striking choral cycle\, Mid-Winter Songs\, sets poetry of Robert Graves and is bookended with works by Frank Ticheli and Elaine Hagenberg. \nFor more information about the program\, check out our concert webpage. \n
