DESCRIPTION:Our Lady of Victory or Our Lady of Beauty? Christian Marian Art for/against Muslims \nPlease join the Haggerty Museum of Art for a Lunchtime Talk by Dr. Rita George-Tvrtković\, Dean and Professor of Theology at the University of Saint Mary of the Lake. This presentation will contrast two sets of Christian Marian images that relate to Islam: those that show Mary against Muslims (“Our Lady of Victory”)\, versus more positive images with the potential to bring Christians and Muslims together. \nDr. George-Tvrtković is an expert on how Christians\, Muslims\, and Jews have gotten along throughout history\, and how different religious groups talk and work together today. She authored the book Christians\, Muslims\, and Mary: A History and the article From Billboards to Mosques Maryam: Do Muslims Today Call on Mary with Devotion? among many other publications. \nCo-presented with Marquette University’s Theology Department \n
