SUMMARY:Choral & Orchestral Masterworks
DESCRIPTION:Join the UWM Choirs and Symphony Orchestra for their annual Masterworks Concert. \nUWM’s Symphony Orchestra is comprised of graduate and undergraduate music majors\, as well as other students. The ensemble presents seven to eight concerts each year and regularly collaborates with UWM Choirs and Opera Theatre. \nThe orchestra has performed at prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall\, the Chicago Symphony Center\, and the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts. It was selected as one of two orchestras to perform at the College Orchestra Directors Association National Conference in Los Angeles and has appeared at the Wisconsin Music Educators Association State Conference. It also features student soloists selected through the annual UWM Symphony Concerto Competition. \nThe choral program at UWM offers five choirs – Concert Chorale (auditioned mixed choir)\, Bella Voce (auditioned soprano-alto choir)\, Kameraden (tenor-bass choir)\, Alta Voce (soprano-alto choir)\, and Kameraden Plus (auditioned tenor-bass choir whose members also sing in Kameraden). In addition to their individual performances which typically feature sacred and secular music from a wide variety of styles and time periods\, the choirs also combine annually to present a major choral/orchestral work with the UWM Symphony Orchestra. \n
