The Tommyville Choo-Choo rides again!
The Tommyville Choo-Choo, it lives! Yes, Tommy Barrett has gotten his mitts on $54.9 million that he will use to built the Tommyville Choo-Choo that runs in a circle in the middle of downtown Milwaukee. And let us remember, Barrett’s choo-choo was estimated to cost over $100 million… You get three guesses as to where the rest of the money will come from. The national average for building a new light rail line is about $25 to $30 million per mile.
Oh yeah, there is also November, December, January and February… The Tommyville Choo-Choo doesn’t run in the snow, so unless Al Gore kicks up the Global Warming, the choo-choo will only work on the nice days, not when it would actually be useful. And have you ever driven or parked in downtown? Imagine taking away a lane that will be dedicated to the choo-choo that no one will ride, I can’t wait.
Below you see a map of where this proposed boondoggle will run overlaying a map of current county transit buses that already serve the area, click the image to see the full sized view.
If you folks outside of Milwaukee think this will not effect you, you aren’t living in the real world, this is just the camel’s nose under the tent flap…
