WMSE’s Local/Live Presents The Mighty Reindeerlick
Special Holiday Edition Broadcasting Live From Club Garibaldi!
WMSE merrily invites you to its monthly Local/Live at Club Garibaldi’s series on Tuesday, Dec. 6 for a special holiday edition. For one night, the Mighty Deerlick will morph into…the Mighty Reindeerlick! These guys will bring you the holiday hits (alongside their own), including their beloved version of “Reindeer In the Sky.” Join us by listening over the airwaves or participating as an audience member – this event is FREE and open to the 21+ public and is lots of fun!
Call them “garage punk,” or “garage rock,” or just “rock,” but don’t call them early in the morning. The Mighty Deerlick has been more or less rocking the tri-state area since their formation in La Crosse, Wisconsin in 1985, and has out-existed many of its contemporaries. Originally called The “Slow Pedestrians,” the band took on its current moniker upon moving to Milwaukee in 1988. Ever-prolific, the band’s prodigious output includes the full-length cassette “Beneath You” (1989), the four-song 7-inch single “Stag Nation” (1990), the legendary holiday tour-de-force “Bells to the Wall” (1991), and several songs they have written since, quickly became hits absolutely nowhere. They have shared the stage with Soul Asylum, the Replacements, the Violent Femmes, Alejandro Escovedo/True Believers, Willie Nile and innumerable local legends. If you have not experienced the Deerlick live, you have truly not yet lived.
As always, WMSE Music Director Erin Wolf and co-host Cal Roach (and YOU), will lead the Mighty Reindeerlick through questions in between the live performance. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. The live on-air segment runs from 6 to 7 p.m. Club Garibaldi is located at 2501 S. Superior St. in Bay View.
If you can’t join us for the live segment and show at Club Garibaldi, please tune in, per usual, to 91.7 FM (or stream online at WMSE.org) at the 6 o’clock hour.
Local/Live on WMSE is sponsored by The Garage.
