WARF and gener8tor Announce Partnership

gBETA Pre-Seed Accelerator Will Fuel Growth of Spinouts

By - Nov 2nd, 2015 09:00 am

Madison – At gener8tor’s semi-annual Premiere Night, the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) will be announcing a new partnership to fuel the growth of startups emerging from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. WARF will sponsor gBETA – a pre-seed version of gener8tor’s nationally-ranked accelerator program that will provide individualized mentorship and coaching to fifteen startups each year. WARF will be joining American Family Insurance as a sponsor of gBETA.

“Our mission at WARF is to support researchers and advance groundbreaking research at UWMadison,” said Carrie Thome, Director of Investments at WARF. “Much of that research has tremendous commercial potential, and we enthusiastically support inventors who want to become entrepreneurs. We are excited by the opportunity to partner with a nationally-ranked accelerator to provide the next level of resources to researchers taking their innovations off campus.”

gBETA is a free, six-week program that provides participants with intensive and individualized coaching and access to gener8tor’s network of mentors, customers and investors. The program is designed to help startups gain early customer traction on their product or idea, and establish metrics that make them competitive applicants for full-time accelerators or angel investment.

“Because of WARF’s leadership, gener8tor will more than double the number of companies we work with each year. That will mean more jobs created, more capital raised and more startup success stories out of Wisconsin. This partnership is a real honor for our team, and we’re excited to get to work,” said gBETA’s Director Maggie Brickerman.

gBETA is a program of gener8tor. gener8tor is a “Top 15” accelerator that invests in highgrowth startups. gener8tor is a proud member of the Global Accelerator Network (GAN) and is sponsored by American Family Insurance.

gBETA will run three times per year, and is capped at five companies per cohort to ensure a high level of individualized attention. gBETA companies must have at least one team member that is a student, recent alum, faculty or staff member at a college or university in Wisconsin.

gBETA works with companies across all industries and business models. Startups interested in applying should contact Maggie Brickerman (maggie@gener8tor.com). For more information, visit www.gbetawisconsin.com.
