von Briesen & Roper, s.c. Hires 14 Attorneys from Weiss Berzowski LLP

In 2016, von Briesen added 40 attorneys and opened offices in Oshkosh, Appleton and Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Randall D. Crocker, President and CEO of von Briesen & Roper, s.c., announced that 14 attorneys formerly of the law firm Weiss Berzowski LLP, have joined von Briesen & Roper, s.c. Today von Briesen employs 153 attorneys statewide. Weiss Berzowski LLP ceased operations effective November 30, 2016.

In 2016, von Briesen added 40 attorneys and opened offices in Oshkosh, Appleton and Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Nancy M. Bonniwell is a Shareholder in the Delafield and Milwaukee offices. She focuses her practice on estate, business succession and marital property planning, estate administration and business law. Bonniwell is recognized in The Best Lawyers in America® (Trusts and Estates 2012-2017) and was the recipient of the Outstanding Advisor of the Year Award from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation in 2014. She was recognized as one of the Wisconsin Law Journal’s “Women in the Law” and is a Fellow of the Wisconsin Law Foundation.

Bonniwell is Chair of the Town of Delafield Board of Appeals and a member of the Waukesha County Board of Adjustment. She serves on the board of directors of ProHealth Care Foundation and is a director and member of the executive board of Tall Pines Conservancy. She is a member of the Planned Giving Council of Children’s Hospital and Health System and the Advisory Board of Waukesha County Community Foundation. She is a member of the Waukesha County Bar Association, the Milwaukee Bar Association, the Association for Women Lawyers, Professional Dimensions, TEMPO Waukesha, and the Waukesha County Estate Planning Council.

Bonniwell received a J.D. from the University of North Dakota Law School and a B.S. from the University of Wisconsin (with honors). She resides in Pewaukee, Wisconsin.

Ann K. Chandler is a Shareholder in the Milwaukee office. She focuses her practice on representing shopping centers, office parks and residential developers in the acquisition, financing, development and leasing of real estate property.

Ann is a frequent presenter of continuing legal education seminars on the topics of commercial leasing, business law and real estate licensing law. She taught Real Estate Transactions at the University of Wisconsin Law School and was an adjunct faculty member at the University of Central Florida and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Chandler is a member of the State Bars of Wisconsin and Florida, the Milwaukee Bar Association and the Waukesha County Bar Association.

Chandler received a J.D. from Marquette University Law School and a B.A. from Marquette University and attended the University of Florida. She resides in Hartland, Wisconsin.

Adam R. Finkel is an Associate in the Milwaukee office. He focuses his practice on business disputes and commercial litigation.

Finkel is a member of the Milwaukee Bar Association, the Milwaukee Young Lawyers Association and the State Bar of Wisconsin where he also serves as the Chair of their Lawyer Referral and Information Services Committee. He serves on the Committee for the Milwaukee Jewish Federation Young Leadership Division.

Finkel received a J.D. from Marquette University Law School and a B.S. from the University of Wisconsin. He resides in Mequon, Wisconsin.

Aaron J. Foley is an Associate in the Milwaukee office. He focuses his practice on estate planning, probate and trust administration, business law, real estate and adult guardianship.

Foley is President of the Board of Directors for Community Projects for Seniors, a nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of older adults by providing activities and meals to individuals living in low-income housing. He is also a volunteer guardian through the Legal Aid Society of Milwaukee’s GAIN project.

Foley is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin and the Milwaukee Bar Association. He received a J.D. from Marquette University Law School and a B.A. from Creighton University (cum laude). He resides in Germantown, Wisconsin.

Andrew T. Frost is an Associate in the Milwaukee office. He focuses his practice on employment counseling, employment litigation, private-sector labor relations and employee benefits.

Frost is a member of the State Bars of Wisconsin (Member, Labor and Employment Law Section) and Illinois and the Milwaukee Bar Association. Frost received a J.D. from Marquette University Law School and a B.S. from the University of Wisconsin. He resides in Brookfield, Wisconsin.

Dan B. McDermott is an Associate in the Milwaukee office.  He focuses his practice on estate planning and business law.

McDermott is an active member of local dementia and Alzheimer’s education and support initiatives. He is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin and the Milwaukee Bar Association. He received a J.D. from Marquette University Law School and a B.S. from Marquette University. He resides in Shorewood, Wisconsin.

Randy S. Nelson is a Shareholder in the Milwaukee office. Nelson focuses his practice on estate planning, family business planning, advising service corporations and partnerships, tax planning, trust administration and probate. He is a Certified Public Accountant and an adjunct professor at Marquette University Law School, where he has been teaching estate planning for over 25 years. He is the author of the chapter “Estate Planning for Owners of Closely Held Businesses” in Eckhardt’s Workbook for Wisconsin Estate Planners published by the State Bar of Wisconsin.

Nelson was a member of the drafting committee that was responsible for the Wisconsin Trust Code, which was passed in 2013, and chaired the drafting committee responsible for the Wisconsin Uniform Principal and Income Act, which was passed in 2005.

Nelson is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) and a member of the ACTEC Business Planning Committee. He is a member of the Milwaukee Estate Planning Forum and the Wisconsin and American Institutes of Certified Public Accountants.

Nelson has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America® (Trusts and Estates, 1995-2017) and in 2013 was recognized as a “Lawyer of the Year” for Trusts and Estates. Since 2005, he has been recognized as a WisconsinSuper Lawyer®.

Nelson is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Wisconsin and the Milwaukee Bar Association. Nelson received a J.D. (cum laude) from Marquette University Law School and a B.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He resides in Fox Point, Wisconsin.

Richard J. Rakita is Counsel in the Milwaukee office. He focuses his practice on real estate transactions, real estate litigation and business law. He has significant experience with purchases, sales and refinancing of commercial, industrial, multi-family and development parcels of real estate.

Rakita is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Wisconsin and the Milwaukee Bar Association. Rakita received a J.D. from Marquette University Law School and a B.S. from the University of Wisconsin. He resides in Mequon, Wisconsin.

David J. Roettgers is a Shareholder in the Milwaukee office. He focuses his practice on the purchase and sale of businesses, taxation, corporate finance and business law. He is a Certified Public Accountant.
Roettgers is the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of St. Joan Antida High School and serves on the finance committee. He is also a member of the Alumni Committee for the Marquette University High School Board of Directors.

Roettgers is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin and the Milwaukee Bar Association. He received a J.D. from Marquette University Law School and a B.S. from Marquette University. He resides in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin.

John A. Sikora is a Shareholder in the Delafield office. He focuses his practice in tax planning and the buying and selling of businesses and real estate with a particular emphasis on corporate, partnership and other business matters.

Sikora has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America® (Tax Law, 2003-2017) and in 2013 was recognized as a “Lawyer of the Year” for Tax Law. He has been recognized as a Wisconsin Super Lawyer®.

John is an adjunct professor of law at Marquette University Law School and an instructor of continuing education programs with the State Bar of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants (WICPA).

Robert B. Teuber is a Shareholder in the Milwaukee office. He focuses his practice on tax disputes and controversies for clients nationally, regionally and locally. From a national perspective, he focuses on resolving IRS tax audits, Tax Court litigation, personal liability assessments, tax collection matters, Offers in Compromise and foreign financial account disclosures. From a state and local perspective, he addresses sales, employment, income and property tax controversies.

Teuber serves on the State Bar of Wisconsin Finance Committee, as Chair-Elect of the Taxation Section Board of Directors, and Chair of the Continuing Legal Education Committee.

Teuber is listed as a Wisconsin Super Lawyer® and is a Fellow of the Wisconsin Law Foundation. He is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin and the Milwaukee Bar Association. Teuber received a J.D. (magna cum laude) from Marquette University Law School and a B.S. from Marquette University. He resides in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

Barry R. White is a Shareholder in the Milwaukee office. He focuses his practice on business litigation and commercial law. He is the Chair of the Village of Germantown Board of Zoning Appeals.

He is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin and the Milwaukee Bar Association. White received a J.D. from University of Michigan Law School and a B.A. (cum laude) from Albion College. He resides in Germantown, Wisconsin.

Peter J. White is an Associate in the Milwaukee office. He focuses his practice on business formation, mergers and acquisitions, and tax. He is a Certified Public Accountant.
