MILWAUKEE— (October 21, 2014) — The Milwaukee VA Center will host the National Veterans Creative Arts Festival for the first time from October 27 – November 2. The grand finale stage and art show on Sunday, November 2 at the Milwaukee Theatre is open to the public, with tickets obtained in advance from the organization.

The National Veterans Creative Arts Festival dates back to 1981 and is held in a different location each year. This annual competition recognizes the progress and recovery made through creative arts and recreation therapy, and raises the visibility of the creative achievements of our Nation’s Veterans after disease, disability or life crisis. Veterans participate in a series of workshops throughout the week before the final public event.

On Sunday, November 2, approximately 120 veterans will exhibit their artwork or perform musical, dance, dramatic or original writing selections in a gala variety show accompanied by a professional orchestra. All veterans invited to participate are selected winners of year-long, national fine arts talent competitions involving thousands of veterans from VA medical facilities across the nation.
