MADISON, WI – After Sen. Rick Gudex (R-Fond du Lac) confirmed today that he will not seek re-election, SSDC Executive Director Matt Ullsvik released the following statement:

“Clearly Senator Gudex felt the public’s growing dissatisfaction with the special interest agenda being pushed by Gov. Walker and legislative Republicans. Their record of slashing family wages, cutting local school funding and delaying critical road projects has failed Wisconsin. Rather than another rubber stamp for Gov. Walker’s divide-and-conquer politics, Fox Valley families deserve a Senator willing to stand up for their values, grow the economy and strengthen the middle class.”

“Senate Democrats continue to gain momentum across Wisconsin as families look for real solutions to the problems that Gov. Walker and legislative Republicans have created. With control of the State Senate hanging in the balance, an open seat in the 18th District presents an important opportunity to restore accountability and undo the damage of the last five years.”
