Startup Milwaukee Announces Northwestern Mutual as Presenting Sponsor of Milwaukee Startup Week 2017

Startup Milwaukee is proud to announce Northwestern Mutual as the presenting sponsor of Milwaukee Startup Week 2017, part of the Wisconsin Startup Week initiative taking place November 6-12, 2017.

Milwaukee Startup Week, founded in 2016, is focused on building momentum in Southeast Wisconsin’s high-growth startup community and highlighting the resources available to entrepreneurs in the region.

Reverse Pitch MKE | November 6, 2017, 4:00 – 6:00 pm | Northwestern Mutual Tower & Commons
Reverse Pitch MKE will bring entrepreneurs, hackers, and other creative minds together during Milwaukee Startup Week. At this event, Northwestern Mutual will pitch to startup teams, outlining potential business challenges and big ideas it is looking to explore and solve. With the support of Northwestern Mutual Future Ventures, teams that accept the challenge can earn a seed investment of up to $75,000, access to corporate mentors and networks, and working space at Northwestern Mutual’s downtown Milwaukee headquarters. Entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to do what they love most—work on groundbreaking solutions that could disrupt the industry and drive innovation in the Milwaukee community.

Startup Milwaukee Emerge | November 8, 2017, 8:00 – 10:00 am | Northwestern Mutual Tower & Commons
Startup Milwaukee Emerge will feature a keynote speaker and roundtable discussions with local investors and entrepreneurs on the state of Southeast Wisconsin’s startup community.

Milwaukee’s FinTech Startup Week Edition | November 8, 2017, 5:30 – 7:30 pm | The Box
Northwestern Mutual, along with tech education consultant Gufsky, will host a FinTech MeetUp event to coincide with Milwaukee Startup Week. The MeetUp will feature industry experts and leaders, and will provide an open forum for conversation, debate and FinTech learning opportunities on topics such as blockchain, business development, machine learning and product management in the digital age.

The Commons Hack-It Bracket | November 11, 9:00 am to November 12, 5:00 pm | Ward 4
The Commons and Northwestern Mutual are working together to run a special two-day Hack-It Bracket. College students from across Southeast Wisconsin will be selected to participate in 32 hours of tech innovation. Everyone will receive a tough challenge, run it through a variety of ideation exercises and watch great ideas rise through the ranks. Participants will be pushed to their creative limits, develop actual prototypes, meet great people and have the chance to win more than $20,000 in prizes!

The Wisconsin Startup Week Initiative Launches

This year, Startup Milwaukee’s parent company Skills Pipeline Group has launched the Wisconsin Startup Week initiative to highlight all the resources available to entrepreneurs around the state of Wisconsin.

“Other communities expressed an interest in bringing the energy and excitement of Milwaukee Startup Week to their neck of the woods,” said Matthew J.
