Senator Johnson Finally Leaves Washington… To Fundraise in Texas

Johnson has been crisscrossing the country to meet with wealthy backers.

MADISON – While Russ Feingold travels the state listening to the concerns of Wisconsinites in all 72 counties, Sen. Johnson is hobnobbing with millionaires in Texas. Johnson will join one of his ultra-conservative colleagues, John Cornyn, for a fundraiser in San Antonio today. Lucky Texans can shell out $500 dollars for a chance to meet the Washington Republicans. After San Antonio, Sen. Johnson will swing by Houston for a second fundraiser. It’s indicative of who he represents that on the deadline to file nominating papers to represent Wisconsin, but Sen. Johnson (who flew out yesterday) is busy courting wealthy out-of-state donors.

Johnson has been crisscrossing the country to meet with wealthy backers. He left work in Washington early a few weeks ago to meet with Wall Street bankers in New York. Unfortunately, Wisconsinites don’t get as much face time with our state’s senior U.S. Senator. Between his time in Washington and his time out of state to fundraise, Sen. Johnson doesn’t have much time to listen to his own constituents.
