Representative Zepnick Attends UMOS Candidate Forum

Opponent Cabrera is a NoShow, Holds Campaign Fundraiser Instead

By - Jul 15th, 2016 08:15 pm

Milwaukee – Along with many other candidates for the State Assembly on Milwaukee’s South Side, State Representative Josh Zepnick attended a public forum last night sponsored by United Migrant Opportunity Services (UMOS), and several other prominent organizations in the Hispanic community.

His opponent Marisabel Cabrera skipped the forum in order to hold a campaign fundraiser for herself.

“I appreciate the invite from UMOS to discuss issues such as health care, public education, alcohol and drug abuse as well as tobacco prevention for youth and how they are impacting families on the South Side.

“Forums such as these are important opportunities for the constituents and voters we represent to hear our policy positions and how we will help serve their best interests in the State Capitol. I’m disappointed that my opponent decided to disrespect these important institutions and instead chose to raise funds for her campaign.

Rep. Zepnick has been a long time partner with UMOS on workforce development initiatives and social service programs including the Latina Resource Center. He looks forward to continuing his service to the people of the 9th Assembly District.

“Too many South Side residents feel that the new economic investment either goes to really poor areas or already wealthy areas, with the middle ground often left paying more and more in taxes and fees.”
