MADISON – Assembly Democratic Leader Peter Barca (D-Kenosha) issued the following statement on the Wisconsin Department of Administration’s 2015-2017 state fiscal report issued today:

“Wisconsin residents are continuing to feel the painful consequences of reckless and irresponsible Republican budgeting that favors the wealthy over working families.

“Despite the fiscal gymnastics by the Walker Administration we still face a staggering deficit that will mean even more painful choices for our public schools and vital services.”

Governor Walker and Republicans are especially short-sighted when it comes to turning down federal funds for BadgerCare – a move that was very unpopular among voters and costly to Wisconsin taxpayers.

Assembly Democrats stand by the middle class and those striving to get there, and we will continue to put forward a bold and vibrant agenda to reinvest in our public schools and job training, fund infrastructure and meaningful economic development, ensure access to affordable health care for all and protect middle-class taxpayers.
