Through July 21, members of the public can review and comment on two proposals the City of Milwaukee will be submitting to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Alderman Joe Davis, Sr. reminded residents today.

“These proposals will help determine the city’s plan for spending millions of dollars of federal aid, and establish broader strategies to combat blight, provide housing for hardworking Milwaukeeans and address urgent needs in the community,” said Alderman Davis, the chair of the Common Council’s Community and Economic Development Committee. “It is critical to receive public input to make sure that these priorities adequately address the needs of our city.”

The Year 2015 Funding Allocation Plan lays out specific spending strategies for a variety of federal grants, while the 2015-2019 Five Year Consolidated Plan aims to shape various housing and community development programs into effective, coordinated neighborhood and community strategies.

The documents are available for review at the city’s Community Development Grants Administration website, milwaukee.gov/CDBG. Members of the public can offer their feedback in writing, or in two public hearings—from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9 at the Goodwill Industries John L. Miller Learning Center, 6055 N. 91st St., and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 10 at the Kosciuszko Community Center, 2201 S. 7th St.

The Community and Economic Development Committee will take action on both proposals at its regular meeting on Monday, July 14, 9:00 a.m. at City Hall.
