Rape of girl is sickening, points to need to protect kids at all times

Statement from Alderman Joe Davis, Sr. March 26, 2015

By - Mar 26th, 2015 02:44 pm

Today I learned that Milwaukee police have charged a 39-year-old man for raping (and impregnating) a 10-year-old girl at a residence located not far from McGovern Park on the northwest side.

So now the Milwaukee community will have to deal with yet another incident of self-inflicted pain (of a societal problem) of a pedophile assaulting our children. I become angry, agitated, and downright pissed at the coward who took the innocence of a child in my community! And I become concerned, emotional, and paternal with the situation this child will have to confront, emotionally, for a lifetime.

My disgust and anger at the perpetrator cannot be rationalized at this moment because it would cause me to react irrationally. This violation of trust is sickening and it cannot be tolerated. Also, it reminds us of how we must all be on high alert to protect our children from possible predators – even predators who are NOT strangers.
