Polk County Corrections Officer gets 60-year sentence

On Monday, February 1, 2016, Darryl Christensen was sentenced by Judge Eugene Harrington.

Wisconsin Department of Justice DCI Special Agent Joseph Welsch has been involved in an investigation into the actions of a corrections officer at the Polk County Sheriff’s Department for the past two years. On Monday, February 1, 2016, Darryl Christensen was sentenced by Judge Eugene Harrington to a 60-year sentence, 30 years of imprisonment and 30 years of extended supervision on each of the five counts related to his sexual assaults of five different female inmates for whom he was responsible as a jail guard over a three-year period. The defendant pled to the charges on November 30, 2015.

The case was investigated by Special Agent Welsch and victim witness support was provided by Stephanie Mock of the Office of Victim Services of the Department of Justice. Assistant Attorney General Robert Kaiser represented the State.
