Paul Ryan’s Dangerous Endorsement of Donald Trump

MADISON – Today, Speaker Paul Ryan issued a formal endorsement of the Republican Party’s candidate for President, Donald Trump, announcing he will be voting for the Republican Presidential nominee in November. Trump has demonstrated time and time again that he does not have the temperament to be the leader of the free world, as his actions would substantially weaken our security at home and jeopardize our relationships with our allies abroad. With his endorsement of Trump, Ryan supports a candidate who lacks the knowledge, stability, and the values to be president. Trump is a dangerous candidate whose ideas would cause great harm to Wisconsinites.
“For someone who pontificates about America’s safety, it is nothing short of hypocritical for Paul Ryan to endorse someone as dangerous as Donald Trump, who would jeopardize our security at home and ruin our relationships abroad,” Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesman Brandon Weathersby said on Thursday.
Trump has said he wants to expand nuclear weapons to more countries, intends to abandon our allies in NATO, many of whom came to our aide in the wake of 9/11, and praises Vladimir Putin while picking fights and hurling insults at our friends like the Pope and the British Prime Minister.
“Military leaders, both Republicans and Democrats, have denounced Trump’s foreign policies as dangerous and incoherent. Paul Ryan’s endorsement of Donald Trump is frightening for America, both at home and abroad,” Weathersby concluded.
