Mount Pleasant, WI- Ryan Solen has been asking Paul Ryan to debate since they became the nominees of their respective parties for Wisconsin’s 1st Congressional District following the August 9 primary—77 days ago. Last week he took the extra step of planning a debate to be held with or without the speaker.

Solen looks forward to debating Paul Ryan and has made every effort to accommodate him. He organized and paid for a space at Blackhawk Technical College in Janesville, Paul Ryan’s hometown, on Saturday, October 29th from 2PM to 4PM. Mike Daly of Janesville’s The Big AM 1380 will moderate.  The event is free and the media and the public are welcome to attend.

Ryan Solen chose a weekend day to coincide with the most convenient time for Paul Ryan as it is well-known that the speaker made a condition of his accepting the speakership to be in Janesville every weekend. If Paul Ryan declines the invitation, Solen will still hold the event and answer questions from both the moderator and the audience in a Town Hall format.

Solen’s campaign has not received an RSVP from Paul Ryan’s campaign. With Election Day only 13 days away, Ryan Solen would like to know why, after two and a half months, Paul Ryan still refuses to defend his actions in a formal debate in front of his constituents. Could it be the rumblings of a House Republican Rebellion from the Freedom Caucus that Paul Ryan may be asked to resign as speaker and rumors that suggest Ryan may consider resigning from Congress entirely immediately after Election Day?

It has been seven days since the new invitation to debate was extended.
