Phoenix Investors, a national real estate investment firm based in Milwaukee, is giving back to the community in a big way Monday as company executives are taking more than 200 Sherman Park students and their families from Townsend Elementary School to Milwaukee Bucks game at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.

All of the students and families will receive free transportation to and from the game and each student will get a T-shirt and their choice of hamburger, hot dog or pizza and a drink.

Phoenix Investors executive Ryan Trost said the firm wanted to offer the students and their families impacted by the August civil unrest the opportunity for a fun night out at a Bucks game. At the same time, the goal is to promise strong school attendance and reward families for their efforts. Trost further said that Phoenix Investors was committed to helping improve Milwaukee’s central city neighborhoods.

“There were so many good families in Sherman Park that were unnecessarily harmed by the tragic uprising that occurred in August,” he said. “We know there are hardworking residents that live and work in this neighborhood that were victims of the actions of others. We believe these students are the future of Milwaukee and we want to recognize their efforts and encourage them to do even more in school.”

Milwaukee Bucks president Peter Feigin said Phoenix Investors hosting the students and their families fit the team’s “Milwaukee Monday” focus at games this season.

“When Phoenix Investors approached us with the concept of hosting Sherman Park-based students and their families at a game this season, we loved the idea,” he said. “Phoenix Investors’ focus on what some people deem challenging neighborhoods is a great concept. We are hopeful that this game – focused on Sherman Park – can be replicated on upcoming Milwaukee Mondays as Phoenix looks to expand to other Milwaukee neighborhoods.”
