Milwaukee Recreation Holds Bike Collection Drive
Bikes, parts, and tools needed for community bike program
Milwaukee Recreation is partnering with the Wisconsin Bike Federation, the statewide bicycle advocacy organization, to collect new and used bikes, parts, and metric & standard bike tools for an upcoming community bike program. The collection drive will be held in the main parking lot of Riverside Community Center, 1615 E. Locust Street, on Thursday, April 24 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, April 26 from 9:00 a.m. to Noon. Donations are tax deductible and greatly appreciated.
The upcoming bike program will teach students to repair and restore bicycles as they develop valuable job skills and personal responsibility. When a student has worked on a bike for at least 10 hours in the repair shop, he/she will keep the bike.
