Milwaukee County to Participate in Denim Day 2016
County employees are encouraged to wear denim to work today and to share photos on social media.
MILWAUKEE – Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele and Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm today announced the County’s participation in Denim Day 2016, an international day of activism recognized in April, which is Sexual Violence Awareness Month, to support survivors of sexual violence and promote awareness of sexual violence in our communities.
County employees are encouraged to wear denim to work today and to share photos on social media.
County Executive Abele also announced that the County will collect an optional donation from employees who choose to wear denim (suggested amount is $5.00, but all amounts are graciously accepted; a donation is not required to participate). One hundred percent of the donations collected on Denim Day 2016 will go to Daystar, Inc., a Milwaukee-based non-profit organization that provides supportive services and transitional housing for women who are victims of sexual and domestic violence.
