Meagan Holman Announces Candidacy for Milwaukee City Council, District 14
Meagan Holman today announced her candidacy for Alderwoman in Milwaukee’s 14th district, which includes Bay View and parts of the South Side.
“I’m running for Alderwoman because I’ve never been more optimistic about where our city can go, but I believe we need new leadership that understands we can only get there if we stand together. There is no place I would rather raise my family than in Bay View, and there’s no limit to what we can do if we work together to insure no one in our community gets left behind.” Holman said.
Holman has a history of engaging our community to work on our shared concerns. Holman served as a School Board Director in District 8 on Milwaukee’s South Side and was twice selected to serve as vice president by her colleagues. Her work has transformed the landscape for MPS for years to come by expanding opportunities, championing fiscal responsibility, and hiring a transformational new superintendent. Two of Holman’s proudest accomplishments were convening the community to bring new programming to Bay View High School, and opening Howard Avenue Montessori School.
Holman previously served as a leader in Milwaukee’s nonprofit sector, where she used her experience as an advocate and community organizer with business, community and faith organizations such as Hunger Task Force and AmeriCorps’ City Year program to support Milwaukee’s underserved families.
Holman currently lives with her family in Bay View. You can learn more about the campaign by visiting www.meaganholman.com or by following us on Twitter at @Meagan4Mke.
