MILWAUKEE – Marisabel Cabrera, Democratic candidate for the 9th Assembly district, today issued the following statement regarding the endorsement of the Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters:

“I am truly honored to have received the support of the Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters as they have now selected me as the best candidate to represent our community knowing that I will champion conservation policies that effectively protect Wisconsin’s natural resources and public health.

“We need to work together to bring down the barriers that inhibit the protection of natural resources, focus on holding polluters accountable, protect our public lands from sale and privatization, creating a clean-energy future, and ensure that all Wisconsinites have a clean and beautiful state for generations to come.

“One of our largest victories was defeating AB554, the bill authored by the incumbent that would have made it easier to privatize Wisconsin’s public water utilities. I, along with the LCV, see this as bad public policy and not in the interests of the public good.

“I look forward to working with everyone in Madison to promote clean air, land, and water. Working on conservation issues is something that has long-term and generational impacts on the future of Wisconsin’s public health and quality of life. Starting in January, I will be proud to be a part of a growing conservation majority as we continue to push for strong and effective conservation policies.”

Marisabel Cabrera is a private-practice immigration attorney, a member of Milwaukee’s Fire and Police Commission, chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin‘s Latino Caucus, and is a candidate for Wisconsin’s 9th Assembly district in the Democratic primary election to be held August 9, 2016.
