M. L. King Library is Open and Will Hold a Special Program on Martin Luther King Jr. Day

All Other Milwaukee Public Libraries are closed for the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday

MILWAUKEE – While most Milwaukee Public Library (MPL) locations will be closed on Monday, January 21 to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., MPL’s M. L. King Library (310 W. Locust St.) will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to honor King’s legacy.  The library will offer a special program that is free and open to the public.

What: Local leaders will read excerpts from the works of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. followed by a performance by Ton Ko-Thi.  A special craft project will be available for children throughout the day and refreshments will be provided. The Read-In is sponsored by the MPL and the Milwaukee Area Reading Council.

When: 11:00 am-1:00 pm – Read-ins by local community leaders

2:00 pm – Performance by Ton Ko-Thi, the youth ensemble of Ko-Thi

Milwaukee Public Schools Superintendent Gregory Thornton

Library Trustee Alderman Nik Kovac

County Supervisor Willie Johnson

Library Trustee County Supervisor Theodore Lipscomb

Limited parking is available in the King Library parking lot.
