Herb Kohl endorses Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm for re-election

MILWAUKEE—Today, former U.S. Senator Herb Kohl endorsed Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm for re-election, citing his important work to keep Milwaukee safe while working to bring incarceration rates down.
“John Chisholm has proven to be an innovative and effective leader as District Attorney,” said Senator Kohl. “He has served Milwaukee County honorably for more than 20 years and has taken on some of the toughest issues facing our community while working tirelessly to keep Milwaukee safe. John has the experience and integrity necessary to make the tough decisions, and I am proud to endorse him.”
“I am deeply grateful to have the support of Senator Kohl,” said Chisholm. “He is a highly respected leader, and his dedication to this community serves as a model for all public servants.
“Over the last decade, we have made great improvements in Milwaukee County’s criminal justice system, but the work is not done yet,” continued Chisholm. “I look forward to continuing to work for a safe community and a criminal justice system that works for all citizens.”
District Attorney John Chisholm was first elected in 2006 after the retirement of long-time Milwaukee County District Attorney E. Michael McCann. He has been very active in the community and serves on several local and national boards, including serving as past chairman of the Safe & Sound board of directors, the High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area board, the Homicide Review Commission, and the Association of Prosecuting Attorneys. Chisholm was also a member of Governor Jim Doyle’s Racial Disparity Oversight Commission and is a member of the Harvard Executive Session on Community Corrections.
Chisholm was born in Milwaukee and is a graduate of Marquette University High School, Marquette University, and the University of Wisconsin Law School. He is also a veteran of the United States Army. He lives in Milwaukee’s Bay View neighborhood with his wife, Colleen, and teenage son, Ted.
The Democratic primary election is Tuesday, August 9, 2016.
