German Fest, Milwaukee’s Original HAUS Party, introduces Jams on Tap as part of its 2014 festival lineup. The concert series, hosted at the BMO Harris Pavilion Stage during German Fest, offers big stage acts amid traditional festival activities.

The Jams on Tap 2014 schedule features headline performances from Bret MichaelsPlain White T’s andThree Dog Night. Opening acts include local favorites 5 Card StudsI’m Not A Pilot and Vic & Gab, who recently earned a 2014 Song of the Year award from the Wisconsin Area Music Industry Awards. Afternoon performances include music from The Wisconsin Philharmonic and The Ultimate Legends Show, which highlights the hits of Buddy Holly, Johnny Cash, Neil Diamond and The Blues Brothers.

Separate tickets are required for shows at the BMO Harris Pavilion Stage, which is located on the festival grounds. Tickets will be available for purchase online, Monday, June 2. Each ticket to a Jams on Tap show includes admission to German Fest.

German Fest is the first of Milwaukee’s ethnic festivals to utilize the combined appeal of the BMO Harris Pavilion Stage and marquee performers to help draw attendance from a wider demographic that may not have previously attended the festival.

“German Fest is rooted in fun and celebration and by tapping big stage acts supported by local area musicians, the festival will appeal to a broad range of fairgoers – from long-time visitors to newcomers,” said Klaus Fromme, director, German Fest. “Our focus is to provide an engaging, entertaining, and culturally rich haus party on the shores of beautiful Lake Michigan.”

In 2011, German Fest demonstrated a move toward a more music-centric festival by hosting a Battle of the Bands.

“Celebrating music, whether polka or rock, is part of German history,” added Fromme. “The Star-Club in Hamburg, Germany, was a popular venue that hosted The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and Jerry Lee Lewis. With Jams on Tap, we hope to expand that concept and draw even more people from the region.”
