Fast Tracking Passage of Abortion Ban is Politics at its Worst

MADISON, Wis., – In response to the news that the Assembly is proposing to go into extraordinary session on Tuesday to fast track a vote on the dangerous and highly unpopular abortion ban, Tanya Atkinson, Executive Director of Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin, issued the following statement:
“Fast tracking the passage of a ban on abortion that medical experts agree poses a threat to women’s health on the same day that legislators will be debating the passage of the state budget and other significant issues, is politics at its worst. If the leaders in the Assembly were truly concerned about the opinions of doctors and the health and well-being of women and their families, they would not be expediting the passage of this dangerous policy. This is a clearly calculated effort to win political favor with anti-women’s health special interest groups. Wisconsin doctors, women and their families deserve better.”
