Downtown’s summer trolley bells will toll again beginning June 4

The service will run Thursdays through Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., June 4 through Sept. 5.

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (May 27, 2015) – Downtown Milwaukee’s summer trolley service, the Milwaukee Trolley Loop presented by VISIT Milwaukee, will link downtown’s festivals, museums, shops and events beginning Thursday, June 4. Operated by Transit Express, the privately funded service will run Thursdays through Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., June 4 through Sept. 5. The entire loop is 40 minutes. Two trolleys will service the “Hop ‘n Shop, Wine ‘n Dine” route, offering 20-minute headways at each of the 30 stops. The route serves East Town, Westown, Water Street, Old World Third Street and the Historic Third Ward. Rides are $1 per trip.

“The Milwaukee Trolley Loop is a beneficial service to our downtown community,” said Beth Weirick, CEO of Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21. “The service allows out-of-towners and residents alike to enjoy affordable and userfriendly public transportation that links them to all of downtown Milwaukee’s summer attractions. We are grateful for the support of our community partners and look forward to another successful season.”

Destinations along the Milwaukee Trolley Loop route include the Milwaukee Public Market, Wisconsin Center, Milwaukee Public Museum, Marcus Center for the Performing Arts, Milwaukee Art Museum, Discovery World at Pier Wisconsin, Betty Brinn Children’s Museum, The Shops of Grand Avenue, the Grohmann Museum, and the theater and hotel districts. The route also encompasses downtown’s many restaurants, shops, spas and salons.

The privately funded service is supported by its two lead contributors, VISIT Milwaukee and Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21, with additional support from the Historic Third Ward Association, Milwaukee Art Museum, The Usinger Foundation, The Shops of Grand Avenue, East Town Association and Wisconsin Cheese Mart.
