MILWAUKEE—September 22, 2015—Creative Alliance Milwaukee (CAM) and Innovation in Milwaukee (MiKE), an initiative of the Greater Milwaukee Committee (GMC), today announced the content line up for their new combined annual conference, Walk the Talk, the overall schedule for the day and the launch of the event website at www.walkthetalkmke.com. The event takes place Wednesday, October 7, 2015, from 8:00 a.m.-‐5:30 p.m at a variety of locations around the Third Ward and Walker’s Point areas.

The 2015 Walk the Talk theme is the Intersection of Creativity and Innovation and the event will feature two back-‐to-‐back keynote presentations, one coming from the viewpoint of creativity and the other from that of innovation. The Creativity Keynote is Dennis Kois, the President and CEO of the Milwaukee Public Museum, who previously was an exhibition and graphic designer in the museum field. His current opus is redesigning MPM’s Streets of Old Milwaukee exhibit.

The Innovation Keynote is Andrew B. Williams, Ph.D., a Professor at Marquette University and the John P. Raynor, S.J., Distinguished Chair in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Director of the Humanoid Engineering & Intelligent Robotics (HEIR) Lab. He is also Chief Creative Officer of AppRobo LLC, a motivational speaking and technology consulting firm, which promotes inclusive and diverse talent strategies for innovation in the computing and robotics industry. Andrew’s TEDx talk, “Belonging in Technology: What I learned from Steve Jobs”, describes creativity and inclusion’s role in innovation and why Steve Jobs hired him to become Apple’s first Senior Engineering Diversity Manager. Dr. Williams was named one the 50 Most Important African Americans in Information Technology and one of Milwaukee’s Most Creative by Milwaukee Magazine.

Attendees of Walk the Talk will have the opportunity to concentrate on one of three “Discovery Tracks.” Discovery track presenters include:
Talent: Sue Marks, President & CEO, Cielo
Process: Karin Peterson, VP Strategic Development, DCI Artform
Culture: Joey Feinstein, Director of Supply Chain Management, Culture Committee, Southwest Airlines

The planning committee set forth the goal of curating conference content that results not only in high quality professional development value, but also in an actionable, community-‐wide Creativity and Innovation Agenda as the outcome.

This agenda will be the result of the “Re-‐Imagination Workshops,” which each take a topic and “reimagine it” in the context of the intersection of creativity and innovation. Workshop participants will work on actual challenges or opportunities within Greater Milwaukee, applying innovation and creativity tools that will be taught in the workshop. Re-‐imagination Workshop areas include Corporate Culture, Education, Neighborhoods, Places and Spaces, Energy, Art as A Business, The Milwaukee Flag and more.

Interstitial content includes “MKE Super Colliders,” thought leaders in the realms of education, technology, innovation, manufacturing, corporate culture, entrepreneurship, creativity and more. Some of these individuals include: Joaquin Altoro, Anne Basting, Fonde Bridges, José Chavez, Hannah Dugan, Young Kim, Brad Lichtenstein, Megan McGee, Jeff Sherman, Brian Thompson, Lajwanti Waghray, David Wake and more.

Add in an ice cream social, recess and live music, and this is a conference unlike others held in the city. The conference is being experience designed by local firm Translator.
