Common Council President Michael J. Murphy today announced changes to the membership of the Common Council’s standing committees, prompted primarily by the addition of newly elected 11th District Alderman Mark Borkowski.

Alderman Borkowski, who won the August 18 special election to complete the unexpired term of the late Alderman Joe Dudzik, was appointed by President Murphy to the Community and Economic Development Committee in replacement of Alderman José G. Pérez, and to the Judiciary and
Legislation Committee in replacement of Alderman Jim Bohl.

President Murphy appointed Alderwoman Milele A. Coggs to the Public Safety Committee to fill the vacancy left by Alderman Dudzik, and she was also named vice-chair of the Finance and Personnel Committee, a position previously held by Alderman Dudzik.

President Murphy also made regular Alderman Pérez’s appointment to the Finance and Personnel Committee. He had previously been filling the vacancy left by Alderman Dudzik on a temporary basis.

“We welcome Alderman Borkowski to the Common Council, and I believe his skills and experience will serve him well on the Community and Economic Development Committee and the Judiciary and Legislation Committee,” President Murphy said.

“I also believe Alderwoman Coggs will be an outstanding addition to the Public Safety Committee as her perspective, knowledge and experience is of great value to the Council and to the city as a whole,” President Murphy said.
