Chamber orchestras present old and new music

Free and open to the public

WAUKESHA, WIS. – “From the Old and the New!,” a Carroll University Chamber Orchestra production, will be Sunday, April 13, 2014, at 4 p.m. in Shattuck Music Center, 218 N. East Ave., Waukesha. It also features Wisconsin Lutheran College Chamber Ensemble. This concert is free and open to the public.

Dr. Alexander Mandl will conduct the performance, which features “Abdelazer Suite” by H. Purcell, “A Little Night Music” by W.A. Mozart, “Andante Festivo” by J. Sibelius and “Voyage” by Corigliano. “From the Old and the New!” is performed with string instruments, including violins, violas, cellos and contrabass.

Mandl is a violinist, conductor and faculty member at Carroll University, University of Wisconsin-Parkside, Wisconsin Lutheran College, and the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music. He is also the concertmaster of the Racine and Kenosha Symphony Orchestras. He is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, Yale University, and the University of Wisconsin. He often serves as a jury member for competitions, and is a founding member of Philomusica Quartet.
