Callender Named WISTAX Communications Director
Award-winning journalist joins team of experts
MADISON—David Callender, a veteran journalist and former government relations manager, has joined the Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance (WISTAX) as communications director.
Callender will oversee the Alliance’s media relations, civic education, and public outreach efforts, as well as contribute to its online and print publications.
“We are excited to bring David’s unique insight and talent to our team of research experts,” WISTAX President Todd A. Berry said. “His insider’s knowledge of Wisconsin government and policy-making add an important dimension to the information we offer the public and the media.”
Callender won numerous awards as a journalist covering Wisconsin politics and state and local government for more than 20 years. His work has appeared in The New York Times, The London Sunday Times, The Guardian, and The Capital Times of Madison.
Most recently, he spent seven years advising state agencies, the legislature, state Supreme Court, Congress, and local officials on public policy. His areas of expertise include taxation and fi nance, public safety and the courts, and labor relations.
Callender has also taught political science at Edgewood College in Madison.
