Bonds re-elected as president of Milwaukee Board of School Directors

Miller elected vice president; committee assignments also set after annual organizational meeting

MILWAUKEE (April 29, 2015) – The Milwaukee Board of School Directors re-elected Dr. Michael Bonds as its president Tuesday night at the Board’s annual organizational meeting. Dr. Bonds, who was first elected to the Board in 2007, has served as president since 2009.

Larry Miller, who has served on the Board since 2009, was elected vice president. He succeeds Meagan Holman, who did not seek re-election to the Board.

Two new members have been sworn in to serve: Wendell Harris, Sr., who replaces former Director Jeff Spence, and Carol Voss, who replaces former Director Holman.

President Bonds has also announced committee assignments that he has made for the 2015-16 Board year in an effort to utilize the expertise and talents of the members of the Board:

Committee on Accountability, Finance, and Personnel:
Director Miller, Chair; Director Bonds, Vice-Chair; Director Mark Sain, Director Voss, Director Claire Zautke

Committee on Student Achievement and School Innovation:
Director Tatiana Joseph, Chair; Director Annie Woodward, Vice-Chair; Director Terry Falk, Director Harris, Director Miller

Committee on Legislation, Rules and Policies:
Director Sain, Chair; Director Woodward, Vice-Chair; Director Bonds, Director Falk, Director Miller

Committee on Parent and Community Engagement:
Director Zautke, Chair; Director Harris, Vice-Chair; Director Joseph, Director Voss, Director Woodward

Committee on Strategic Planning and Budget:
