MILWAUKEE (Oct. 5, 2016) –  U.S. Cellular today announced that Bay View High School football coach Jeff Wallack was named a top 50 nominee for the company’s Most Valuable Coach program.  The program honors high school football head coaches nationwide who have had a positive impact on their players, students and local communities.

Coach Wallack was nominated for his efforts to help tie the school and community together by expecting his players to excel in their studies and be involved in their neighborhood. He also turned the Bay View High School football program around, ending a 5-year losing streak. All 50 head coach finalists nationwide now compete for the public’s vote at TheMostValuableCoach.com until noon CT on Oct. 17. At the end of the program, two coaches and their guests will receive a trip to Orlando, Fla., and be recognized live on the Citrus Bowl’s field during the nationally-televised Under Armour High School All-America Game on Jan. 1 on ESPN.

Wallack is one of 17 coaches from Wisconsin to receive the honor and who is now competing for votes. Following the first round of voting, 15 coaches will advance to the final round of voting and receive $1,000 from U.S. Cellular for their school to use however they choose. The company will also host a celebratory event to honor each coach and create a short video detailing the coach’s story.

“We heard several inspiring stories and are excited to be one step closer to identifying and honoring these inspirational leaders in our communities,” said John Heimsch, Director of Sales for U.S. Cellular in Wisconsin. “All of the top 50 nominees are worthy of being recognized for their contributions to their team, school and community, and we encourage everyone here in the Milwaukee area to vote for their favorite coach.”

The final two winning coaches will be determined by a second vote taking place Oct. 20 through Nov. 18, with the winner announced Nov. 21.
