Author & Fast Company Contributor Charles Fishman Joins Milwaukee’s 9th Annual Water Summit
In the last four years, Charles Fishman has become one of the most forceful, challenging and inspiring public voices on water issues.
MILWAUKEE, WI, MARCH 2, 2016 – Charles Fishman, an award-winning journalist and the nation’s go-to reporter for water innovation, joins Water Summit 2016 ‘Establishing a Water Resilient City’ in Milwaukee on June 14-15, as the moderator, inaugurating a new, dynamic approach to water leadership conferences.
In the last four years, Charles Fishman has become one of the most forceful, challenging and inspiring public voices on water issues, speaking everywhere from MIT and UCLA, to Hershey chocolate and the United Nations. Fishman is a former reporter for the Washington Post. Since 1996, he has worked for the innovative business magazine Fast Company. Fishman’s work has won numerous awards, including three times receiving UCLA’s Gerald Loeb Award, the most prestigious award in business journalism.
“The world of water is right at the start of an age of transformation, even revolution — citizens and elected officials are paying attention to water problems as never before, and Milwaukee’s Summit should be filled with energy, innovative ideas, and people eager to take home ideas for how to create a world of ‘smart water,’ ” said Fishman.
Fishman’s book, “The Big Thirst: The secret life & turbulent future of water,” has become the best-selling water book in a generation, and is changing how people think about water, and how they manage it. “The Big Thirst” does something few water books do — it restores a sense of wonder about water, along with a sense of urgency.
“Charles’ bold and insightful perspective on water challenges is matchless, and brings the Water Summit to a whole new level for our attendees,” said Dean Amhaus, president and CEO of The Water Council. “The Summit audience will be able to get a glimpse of what it might be like to observe an engaging dinner conversation between Charles and some of the water sector’s leading professionals.”
The Water Summit attracts 400 water leaders and internationally recognized speakers to Milwaukee’s World Water Hub to discuss vital global water issues and advance innovative solutions, shaping the future of water technology and our world’s water crisis.
