Area establishments throw down for East Town’s 5th annual Heat It Up! challenge

Chili & bloody mary competition highlighting nearly 20 local bars and restaurants

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (September 10, 2014) – East Town Association is spicing up the fall season with their 5th annual Heat It Up! Bloody Mary & Chili Challenge on Saturday, Oct. 4 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Cathedral Square Park. Coinciding with the final installment of the East Town Market, the competition will feature nearly 20 area establishments mixing up their best bloody mary and chili recipes for endless sipping and stirring.

Attendees will enjoy unlimited samples of inventive chili and bloody mary concoctions prepared by area bars and restaurants, with a chance to vote for their favorite in each category to determine the winning recipes. First-place submissions in both the bloody mary and chili categories will receive a commemorative trophy, plus bragging rights. While putting their palates to work, attendees will also be treated to live reggae music by local group The Tritonics.

This year’s chili lineup will include creations by Kil@wat, Hotel Metro, Blue’s Egg, Mark’s Homemade Award-Winning Chili, Red Rock Saloon, Miller Time Pub, Café Benelux, Cafe Lulu, 600 East Café, The Chef’s Table, Mi-key’s, Saz’s, Nine’s at the River Club, Burke’s Irish Castle, The Pfister and more.

Participants in the bloody mary portion of the competition include Kil@wat, Hotel Metro, Blue’s Egg, Red Rock Saloon, Miller Time Pub, Café Benelux, Cafe Lulu, Wicked Hop, The Chef’s Table, Mi-key’s, Nine’s at the River Club, The Pfister, Riverwest Public House and Tochi Ramen House.

Tickets are available to persons 21 and over for $30 each, and include unlimited chili and bloody mary samples. Tickets are available for advance purchase online at easttown.com or 2014heatitup.bpt.me. Advance purchase is highly recommended as only a limited number of tickets will be available on the day of the event.
