Alderman Rainey offers condolences to car crash victim’s families

Statement of Alderman Khalif J. Rainey - October 2, 2017

By - Oct 2nd, 2017 04:45 pm

I would like to offer my condolences to the family members of the victims from this morning’s fatal crash at the intersection of 35th and Capitol in the 7th Aldermanic District.  I was disheartened to learn that an 11-month old girl and her 27-year-old mother were killed in the crash.

The crash occurred when a vehicle went through a red light at the intersection and slammed into the vehicle carrying the mother and young child. The epidemic of senseless reckless driving in Milwaukee has taken far too many innocent lives and I urge everyone to slow down and drive safely.

Citizens across our city are looking to city leaders for a substantive plan to help put a stop to the reckless driving epidemic, and I look forward to hearing from Chief Flynn and Mayor Barrett soon on what actions they are recommending.

My heart goes out to the victims and their families, as they were taken from this world far too early. My prayers are with them during this difficult time.
