A Common Council file introduced today by Alderman Joe Davis, Sr. is intended to bring to light more information about the Milwaukee Police Department’s standard operating procedures.

Alderman Davis, a member of the Council’s Public Safety Committee, said the communication file could be the subject of public testimony at the committee provided by representatives from MPD and/or the Fire and Police Commission (both named in the file).

“The Police Department has standard operating procedures dictating what officers should do in specific situations and under specific circumstances, and it is my intention that we have an open and honest discussion about those procedures so that members of the Council and the public can learn more about them,” Alderman Davis said.
